Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is known for her acclaimed performances in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes, including an Oscar for the film Piano. The talented actress began her acting career on stage in various Broadway and Off Broadway productions. Since her childhood she's been enthusiastic about performing. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade pupil in a school performance. Her mumps made her deaf and blind in one ear, but she was determined not to allow that hinder her from becoming an actress. She studied drama at college before moving between Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her dreams. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut through a chance encounter with Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. As she relocated to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find films to play. A supporting role was found in Swing Shift. In the three decades since then she's appeared in numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity and has won the Women in Film Lucy Award.
